What to Expect in a Newborn Photography Session in West Virginia

Congratulations seem to be in order!

Along with all the other new parent things – researching the best car seat, stroller, breast pumps, bottles, etc, – in comes researching a photographer. Oh. My. Gosh. Right?

Well, first, let me introduce myself. If you haven’t yet heard of me, I’m sure someone you know has. My name is Shannon and I’m a full time newborn photographer.

Nope, that’s not me, but a photo of my beautiful little client! Before I get too far ahead of myself (hello, ADHD), I’m going to start right at inquiry and walk you through your entire process with me.

  • You’ve sent your inquiry and excitedly wait for my reply.
  • This conversation (via call, text, or email) is finding out more about you, when you’re due, giving you all the pricing info, etc. If you’re wanting on the schedule, this is when you book

  • The next step is telling me “Baby is here!” so we can discuss how you and baby are doing and get you a session date. (Yes, momma, I want to make sure you feel good!)
  • I’ll send you a prep guide to ensure you’re as ready as possible and a short questionnaire that will guide me in creating your custom setups

  • It’s session day!!! You walk in and everything is ready to go!
  • You notice it doesn’t look like most “photo studios” and that’s done on purpose. It’s very “comfy/homey”, a place you feel comfortable.
  • If you’ve chosen family, we will start there. I’ll wrap baby and start with family posing. Don’t worry, I’ll guide you with where to place everything, make sure your hair looks great, and you look amazing! This portion doesn’t take too long, about 15 minutes.
  • Now for the baby’s solo portion. The longest part of the session and where parents love having a moment to just relax. I take my time, going at baby’s pace (safety and comfort is number 1).
  • All done! Let’s schedule your ordering appointment!

Morgantown, WV studio session for newborn. Newborn girl in purple in a heart, with flowers.

  • It’s the day you’ve been waiting for! You get to see your photos! I’ll hand you a tablet, explain how to choose, and let you get to “ooh-ing and aah-ing”.
  • If you need help, I’m right there. I will help you get to wherever you want to be in terms of budget.
  • In approximately 3 weeks, you will get your digital images via email and I’ll order your products if you’ve ordered any.
  • Pickup order.

  • TA-DA! You did it! You made the awesome decision to hire me as your newborn photographer and now you get to savor these gorgeous images forever!

WELCOME

Hello! I’m Shannon, the gal behind Wood and Lace. I am a full time professional photographer. When I’m not behind the camera, I am editing, working on the back end (website, marketing, etc), taking new courses to continue to grow my craft, and then all of the mom things after work is over the day. They say if you do something you love that you will never work a day in your life… I beg to differ. When you love what you do, you will work harder than you ever have in your life. The only difference is that it will feel all of the hard work is worth it.
